PHOTO EDITOR, MTV WORLD

MTV World, an MTVN division focused on global pop music and culture is launching new, editorially driven online products this summer that will be rich in articles, video and photography. We are looking for a dynamic, hands-on Photo Editor who can bring our brands to life through compelling and edgy photography, both sourced and commissioned. This role is responsible for developing and maintaining a library of great images to support various features, articles, video productions, slide-shows and blog posts. Given the global nature of our programming, a passion for music and awareness of global pop culture are key requirements. The Photo Editor is a full-time freelance position that will report to the Editor of MTV World

Location: New York,  NY – 345 Hudson Broadway Company: MTV Networks

Responsibilities include:
-Handling requests for images relating to our shows, artists and celebrities.
-Preparing images for our web sites as well as proprietary blogs, sites and promotional creative.
-Conducting photo research for various assignments.
-Working under pressure during coverage of live events.
-Maintaining organization of image archive.
-Shooting talent behind-the-scenes on occasion, either in-house or on location.
-Following, licensing, standards and other processes established by senior team members.
-Taking personal responsibility and ownership for each project you are assigned to.

Requirements:
-2+ years experience in photo editing and knowledge of contemporary emerging photographers, especially in pop culture space
-Advanced knowledge of Photoshop is a must, with a focus on cropping, color correction, retouching, and preparing images for the web.
-Excellent organizational and communication skills and attention to detail are essential, as is a keen knowledge of pop culture.
-The flexibility to quickly switch between tasks and produce at the highest level is key.
