WEB PRODUCER, MTV DESI

MTV World, an MTVN division focused on global pop music and culture is looking for a full-time Web Producer for the MTV Desi website. Web producers are production experts who can skillfully develop creative concepts and seamlessly execute them into compelling digital content experiences. She/He will implement production efforts from daily creation of content to longer term planning. The Web Producer works with different departments both within the MTV World team including Video Production, Music Programming, Editorial, Social Media and Marketing. This is an ideal position for a candidate who is deeply familiar with Desi pop culture, has significant web production experience and can work successfully in an entrepreneurial environment. A strong desire to elevate Desi pop culture and a self-starter mentality are strongly desired. The role includes implementing pitching creative ideas on a regular basis, shaping and nurturing MTV Desi programming, managing production flow, and making sure that MTVDESI.COM is programmed on a regular basis with fresh and compelling content. Reporting to the Director of Online Programming and Production, the Web Producer role is strongly focused on emerging and mainstream South Asian pop culture from around the world so passion for Desi culture and an understanding of its nuances are essential. Familiarity with digital technologies and distribution platforms is essential.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Producing and programming various areas of MTVDESI.COM
• Identifying objectives, helping shape programming direction and ensuring high quality content
• Developing innovative concepts and content presentation ideas
• Managing and identifying resources needed to accomplish production goals
• Working with rest of the team to ensure that process, workflow, documentation, and tools are upheld and/or improved to department standards
• Working with Marketing and Analytics teams to track traffic growth
• Identifying and implementing SEO best practices
• Identifying and implementing social media best practices to ensure widest distribution of MTV Desi content and growth of traffic to MTVDESI.COM
• Collaborate with key stakeholders (Music programming, video producers, Marketing, other departments) to ensure that strategic objectives are understood in concept development, and met in final product

REQUIRED QUALIFICATION/SKILLS

Web Producers have 3+ years of experience in online media building web content for major brands. They are specialists in the areas under their supervision, possess a strong knowledge of best-of-breed practices and keep abreast of industry developments. They are creative individuals whose web production expertise allows them to concept and guide complex development efforts. Strong written and verbal communication skills ensure they coordinate and focus efforts between departments, vendors and team members. Other requirements include:

• Experience developing multiplatform content extensions and original content production
• Proven track record of overseeing creative development and implementation of web sites of high profile brands or franchises
• Strong knowledge of and personal connection to MTV brand and franchises
• Careful attention to detail and tight deadlines
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Creative thinker with an eye for detail
• Must know Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint), Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Project, and Visio
• Working knowledge and understanding of web technologies, including HTML, DHTML, Flash, XML, etc.

 REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Minimum of 3 years of experience working as a web producer at a well regarded online brand or cable network (or equivalent); Desi experience is not essential but is preferred
• Fluency in one or more South Asian languages preferred
• Must be able to demonstrate creativity and creative thinking over career span
• Extensive knowledge of the US market , as well as familiarity with and passion for Desi pop culture from around the world
• Ability to travel and work late hours
• Need to have pop culture sensibility; knowledge of Desi pop music and Bollywood is preferred
• Strong business and personal ethics
• Strong recommendations from within the industry
