Biofuels business unit is seeking to appoint an
agricultural engineer with specific expertise in
development of agricultural land in the United States
southeast. This position will be responsible for due
diligence investigations, site-specific studies, writing
project development plans and providing technical
assistance to other BP units throughout the development
of lands for biofuel crop production. - Bachelor of Engineering in Agricultural Engineering with soil and water emphasis. - Valid US Drivers license. - Experience in large-scale farm development from initial site selection through construction of improvements. - Strong knowledge of crop irrigation and drainage requirements. - Strong familiarity with the various types of irrigation and drainage systems used in agriculture. - Knowledge of agricultural operations as they affect the design of on-farm roads and vehicular movement. - Knowledge of best management practices for efficient irrigation and drainage, conservation of natural resources and water quality protection. - Strong knowledge of typical agricultural land development activities including clearing and grubbing, erosion control measures, earthwork, and construction of irrigation and drainage works; and their cost/duration. - Knowledge of how soil types, climate and hydrology affect irrigation, drainage and land preparation. - Strong written and verbal communication skills. - Ability to self-start and independently manage task completion. - Ability to perform successfully in an ambiguous environment. - Ability to effectively prioritize multiple tasks and responsibilities. - Ability to work in
rigorous outdoor environments under a variety of climatic
