Safety Manager Essential Job Duties Steel Warehouse Company, a South Bend Indiana Steel processor is looking for an environmental health and safety professional to assist with our growing business. Candidate will provide knowledge and expertise in the administration and support of environmental health and safety programs. Additionally, the successful candidate will be responsible for the overall coordination and implementation of environmental health and safety programs to assure compliance with regulatory agency guidelines and policies. · Ensures compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local legislation and codes governing environmental health and safety. · Works with management to develop safety policies. · Responsible for updating developing and updating all written safety programs. · Provides ongoing safety training for all of the Steel Warehouse locations to reduce the frequency and severity of accidental losses. · Participates and leads the division on corporate EHS teams and safety task force. · Conducts regular on-site reviews and audits of operations and facilities. · Investigates and evaluates new safety equipment for appropriateness. · Investigates and responds to all government agency requests for information and audits company wide. · Develops and implements accident investigation data analysis and recurrence prevention programs and procedures. · Updates and evaluates the company wide emergency response plan (evacuation maps, contact info, i.e.). · Chairs the safety committee, and formulates corrective actions from recommendations. · Helps promote safety awareness by developing safety inventive programs. · Other duties as assigned. Qualifications · Strong knowledge of federal, state and local loss prevention regulations. · Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong training and presentation skills are required. · Ability to conduct safety inspections of the company building(s) and equipment. · Ideal candidate will be assertive, people oriented, customer focused and technologically proficient. · Must be able to travel frequently. · Demonstrated ability to implement safety programs and procedures that will reduce the companys DART rate, recordable, and incident rate. · Must be able remain current with the latest safety precautions and OSHA standards. · Attention to detail is absolutely essential. Education Bachelors degree or the equivalent of related experience. Certified Safety Professional (CSP) licensure is strongly preferred.
