field. Incumbent is responsible for the protection of EMV
Site personnel, physical assets and intellectual property
through analysis of security risks and the
development/implementation of mitigation programs and
plans.
Develop and maintain written Site Security strategy
plans, policies, standards and operations procedures
manual
. Determine security risks and mitigation requirements
for supply chain and the site.
. Conduct site vulnerability assessment
. Ensure alignment & compliance with applicable
corporate and regulatory requirements.
. Provide clear understanding of site security role and
expectations.
. Ensure efficient use of Novartis resources.
Management of Vendor relationships with external service
providers
. Contract development /structure, Documentation of
Novartis requirements / Scope definition
. Cost budgeting, monitoring and forecasting
. Performance measurement and oversight
. Cross-functional support coordination
Develop and maintain Site Fire / Life Safety System
strategy, policies, standards and processes
. Ensure alignment & compliance with applicable
corporate and regulatory requirements.
. Performance measurement and oversight
. Planning & Execution of inspections, preventive
maintenance and system impairments
Engage site business unit leadership to ensure security
requirements are understood and addressed in line with
Business Unit and Site Strategies.
Provide dignitary and executive protection support as
required
Provide leadership during crisis management events
Support site capital & expense projects by provision
of security requirements and on-going project
consultation.
Responsible for development and maintenance of
relationships with a wide range of external Novartis
entities, including City of Emeryville, Government
Agencies focused on Law Enforcement and Fire Protection,
and private sector security managers to specifically
include those from the pharmaceutical/biotech industry.
Collection of criminal and critic intelligence and
dissemination to business functions as required to drive
mitigation planning
Support development and maintenance of employee traveller
security and medical emergency programs
Provide assistance to Novartis Global Security Team as
needed:
. Executive security support throughout the U.S. and
European Continent
. Conduct compliance investigations
Act as SME as it relates to the security of the Dx supply
chain and related
Other activities as assigned by direct manager
10 - 15% travel anticipated
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Education (minimum/desirable):
BA/BS degree in Business Management, Security Management,
or equivalent combinations of education and security
related experience required.
Languages
Some secondary education and or training in security or
business programs required.
CPP or other recognized industry certification a plus.
English fluency (written & oral) required
Relevant Experiences
Minimum 15 years previous experience; corporate security,
military, or law enforcement
Minimum of 5 years managerial experience with security
operations within pharmaceutical/biotech industry.
Experience in the following security disciplines: human
asset protection, physical asset protection, technology
and electronic security systems, information protection,
investigations, physical security project support,
business continuity planning, incident command systems
and supply chain security (C-TPAT).
Minimum of 3 years' experience in performing security
investigations in a diverse range of business settings;
e.g. Due diligence investigation, preservation of crime
scene, evidence collection and chain of custody,
witness/suspect interviews, law enforcement liaison,
incident report documentation, supply chain security,
anti-counterfeiting , CCTV and electronic access
documentation review. Formal investigative training
sponsored by ASIS and/or Reid Technique training a plus.
Minimum of 3 years' experience in management of external
service providers.
Experience in developing and maintaining successful
relationships with external law enforcement agencies is
preferred.
Minimum of 3 years' experience with managing of fire life
safety systems to include detection and suppression
systems. Must be able to interpret, enforce, and execute
all Novartis, State, and Federal regulations
