The Ames Laboratory, U.S. Department of Energy, is seeking a web developer to create, maintain, and continually improve the website of the Critical Materials Institute (CMI). The CMI is an Energy Innovation Hub under the U.S. Department of Energy that is headquartered at the Ames Laboratory.

Under the direction of the Operations Manager, the position will design, document and implement features and functionality in coordination with end users and web authors. This position will be responsible for maintaining a website, including user management, content management, search capabilities, themes, upgrading and backing up website/applications. This position will involve working with web authors from other national laboratories, academia and industry that encompass the partnership of the CMI, and will include preparation of documentation and training materials for users.

The successful candidate will have excellent technical and interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively (both written and oral).  

Required qualifications include a Bachelor's degree plus two years of related experience or a MS degree with related experience. In addition, experience must include web design/development experience.  

Preferred qualifications include the following:  Experience managing a website including user management, content management, search capabilities, themes, upgrading and backing up website/applications; experience implementing contributed modules; experience debugging and maintaining code; experience with SQL, including creating/designing databases; familiarity and experience with web standards and accessibility issues in website design; experience developing end user documentation and training materials; experience with Java and J2EE; experience with Adobe Flash or HTML 5.0; experience with Drupal, Sharepoint, website content management and with scripting languages (PHP, Perl); and experience with scripting languages (PHP, Perl).
