Sociology (Soc-1-09) About The American University in Cairo: Founded in 1919, AUC's campus has moved to its new, state-of-the-art campus in New Cairo beginning Fall Semester, 2008. AUC's degree programs are accredited by the Commission on Higher Education of the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools; Engineering programs are accredited by ABET and the Management program is accredited by AACSB. Job Description: The Department of Sociology, Anthropology, Psychology, and Egyptology announces an opening in sociology. Region of specialization open. Preference for a scholar with research interests in classical and contemporary sociological theory plus rural/urban sociology, social movements, sociology of religion, or cultural studies. Successful candidate will teach courses related to her/his research interests at the undergraduate and graduate levels as well as introductory courses and will supervise student research. Requirements: Ph.D. by September 2009 is required. Additional Information: Two- or three-year replacement appointment effective September 1, 2009. Position open until filled.
