JOB DESCRIPTION: Position
Description & Responsibilities:
Team Member of the National Video Operations Group which
provides 24x7 Operational Support & Fault Management
for anything related to the receiving, processing and
delivering of Centralized Video and Video over IP
services on Cox National IP Backbone Network.
1. In this role, the candidate will focus on providing
day to day System Administration support for Video
Services at our Duke Drive Technology Center / Super HE.
This includes Server and Application level support for
all current and future services including Centralized
Video On Demand (VOD), Central Video Capture, Broadcast
Video, and all other Centralized Video Services located
at Duke Drive and our Secondary Super HE in San Diego.
2. Provide 24x7 Operational Support for VOD Applications
and Services. Expected to take part in a weekly, rotating
24x7 on-call support role for any issues escalated to the
National Video Operations Group by the Network Operations
Center (NOC). Responsible for the communication of
troubleshooting & repair information to the NOC to
ensure 24x7 uninterrupted delivery of VOD and Centralized
Video Services. Work with 3rd party vendors and local
contacts to troubleshoot and resolve customer impacting
issues.
3. Perform Windows & Linux Operating System
Installations, Upgrades, Patches, Monitoring, Tuning
& Troubleshooting for VOD and other Video Application
Services. Perform daily network administrative tasks such
as network user directory services & email account
creation & removal, assign security permissions, and
perform daily backups of all servers.
4. Maintains production databases to ensure integrity,
performance, accessibility, and recoverability of data.
Develops long-term strategy for historical data retention
and archival plan for storage needs; defines data
retention, backup, and recovery.
5. Perform application software and database
installation, upgrades and troubleshooting. Analyze,
trend and manage capacity on VOD servers and Video
Delivery systems.
6. Create & maintain all Operational documentation
(Network diagrams, IP and Port allocations, Server HW/SW
versions, etc.) related to Centralized VOD and Video
Applications.
7. Become an integral part in the Development and Growth
of the National Video Operations group and the support of
Centralized VOD Applications and Services:
a. Review of all service and non-service affecting
outages to determine best practices and recommend
improvements to reduce future potential service
interruptions.
b. Continually optimize the Video Network to achieve the
highest level of Video Quality, Network Reliability, and
Performance possible.
c. Assist in the development and improvement of Network
Management & Monitoring Tools, Support &
Maintenance Processes, and M&P Documentation.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Hardware/Software
Experience Required:
1. Configuration, Installation & Troubleshooting
experience with Windows Linux Servers
2. Operational Video Experience or Knowledge of MPEG
and/or VOD technologies a plus.
3. BS/BA in related discipline with 5-8 years of
experience in related field. MS/MA with 3-5 years of
experience in related field. Certification required in
some areas.
